Maintenance Now or Mayhem Later

The story As a landlady, there are few things I dread more than getting a text from a tenant. Invariably, it means something is broken or has otherwise gone wrong, and it’s going to take a pile of money or a good amount of time and petrol to sort it out. Or — horror of horrors — both. This time it was the vacuum cleaner, the washing machine, the tall lamp, and the TV’s cable connection. All were broken, according to various text messages. My bank balance was already weeping. Nonetheless, I told them I’d be over to investigate,… Onwards! ->

How To Increase Your Chances Of Sticking To New Habits

As I mentioned in my January wrap-up, I had some habits I wanted to make and some habits I wanted to break. The good news is that I managed to stay off chocolate and sweets, and to do some form of exercise every day, for the entire month of January. Today, I’m sharing how I increased my chances of sticking to my new habits in the hopes that it will help you with your habits too. January 2015 Wrap-Up

This was actually quite a productive (albeit lightning fast) month for me, perhaps because it’s January so I’m still full of the motivation and inspiration that the new year brings. One of the problems I’ve found I have is that I try to make small amounts of progress with lots of different things, instead of really focusing on one thing and making great strides there. A lot of people hear the word “perfectionist” and assume that everything in that person’s life is ideal and immaculate. Not the case. Striving for perfection doesn’t even remotely equate to achieving it. (I wish!) In fact, for many, it’s the exact opposite. I often put off doing something until I know how to make it perfect, which then leads to the thing never actually getting done at all. In the quest to find the “perfect”… Onwards! ->

December Declutter

Within the next week, we’ll be putting up all our Christmas decorations. And, if you know me, you’ll know that that means our entire house is about to get covered in colourful tinsel and other tacky things. The brighter, the better! So, with the festive holidays looming, there’s never been a better time to declutter. As you know, I’m on a major minimalism mission, which I hope to kick into overdrive in the coming weeks and months. There’ll be an influx of new toys and trinkets soon and it’s important to make space, lest I end up swallowed in… Onwards! ->
