How I Stay Productive (And Sane) As A Stay-At-Home Parent

Being productive when you’re a stay-at-home parent is, at best, bloody hard work. At worst, you’ll drive yourself downright demented. I’ve been both sides of the spectrum, and everywhere in between, so I thought I’d share what I’ve learned along the way. Now I don’t want you to think that I’ve completely overcome this problem. I have good days and bad. More of the latter, if I’m honest. I know how hard it can be, and if something herein helps a stay-at-home parent increase their productivity by even 1%, or at least makes their day go a fraction smoother, I’ll… Onwards! ->

Acceptance — Accept Nothing Less

I warn you in advance, this is ranty. It includes swearing and strong opinions, but only because it’s a topic that I’m wildly passionate about. In fact, this very site was built on the basis of what I’m about to tell you. Y’see, years ago I started another blog about a similar topic. It fell flat on its arse. Why? March 2015 Wrap-Up

March has probably been my least productive month of 2015 so far. I’ve been in an almighty funk and it’s affected my ability to do anything bar sit and feel sorry for myself. But shit’s about to change! One thing I did manage to get done this month was to finally record and upload a video to YouTube. And the response has been absolutely overwhelming. Honestly, I was aiming for 50 views (and secretly hoping for 100) but, as it currently stands, I’m just about to hit the 800 mark. I’m astonished and humbled and so very grateful to everyone for… Onwards! ->

February 2015 Wrap-Up

It’s been an odd month in the How To GYST household. It started off being quite productive, and with a new digital marketing strategy for the site. I was full of motivation and ideas on how to grow the brand, and I set about making various lists and scribbling random notes (as is my wont). And then I hit a personal set-back. Something that disrupted my normal day-to-day routine, and left me at a bit of a loss. I felt unmotivated and, as a result, I just let everything else slide in order to focus on myself and my family.… Onwards! ->

Maintenance Now or Mayhem Later

The story As a landlady, there are few things I dread more than getting a text from a tenant. Invariably, it means something is broken or has otherwise gone wrong, and it’s going to take a pile of money or a good amount of time and petrol to sort it out. Or — horror of horrors — both. This time it was the vacuum cleaner, the washing machine, the tall lamp, and the TV’s cable connection. All were broken, according to various text messages. My bank balance was already weeping. Nonetheless, I told them I’d be over to investigate,… Onwards! ->
