Can Tidying Really Change Your Life? Marie Kondo Thinks So

If you follow me on Facebook or Instagram, you’ll know that I’ve recently lost my mind and started implementing something called the KonMari Method. I’ve previously described it as comprising of two steps: Gather all your shit together in one big pile. Throw it all away. While I still maintain that that’s a pretty accurate assessment, I thought some of you might want a more detailed introduction to what it is and what it involves. The method is outlined in Marie Kondo’s book, “The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying” (or, in some versions, “The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up”). It’s… More ->

Acceptance — Accept Nothing Less

I warn you in advance, this is ranty. It includes swearing and strong opinions, but only because it’s a topic that I’m wildly passionate about. In fact, this very site was built on the basis of what I’m about to tell you. Y’see, years ago I started another blog about a similar topic. It fell flat on its arse. Why? Because I tried too hard to be “professional”. I thought nobody would take me seriously unless I wrote in a very stiff, stifled way. I wanted to be perceived as an expert. But that’s not who I am. That’s not… More ->

March 2015 Wrap-Up

March has probably been my least productive month of 2015 so far. I’ve been in an almighty funk and it’s affected my ability to do anything bar sit and feel sorry for myself. But shit’s about to change! One thing I did manage to get done this month was to finally record and upload a video to YouTube. And the response has been absolutely overwhelming. Honestly, I was aiming for 50 views (and secretly hoping for 100) but, as it currently stands, I’m just about to hit the 800 mark. I’m astonished and humbled and so very grateful to everyone for… More ->

I Have A Shit List; Here’s What I Use It For

Though I frequently tell people who annoy me that they’re on my shit list, the reality is that my actual shit list doesn’t contain any names at all but, rather, ‘to do’ items. I mentioned it in my last post on my task management system, and I’ve alluded to it on social media once or twice, so I thought it was about time I explained myself. My shit list is where I put small niggly tasks that aren’t overly time-sensitive but that still need to be done. They generally require very little time, and the idea is that I slot… More ->

To Do: Write A ‘TeuxDeux’ Review — CHECK!

I’ve mentioned before that I use a digital app for scheduling all my tasks and lists. Feels a bit sacrilegious seen as I’m usually a pen and paper gal, but the one big thing digital has going for it is the ability to easily move things around without messing them up. (And, y’know, that fancy cloud thing I’ve heard so much about.) My lists change on a very regular basis. I need to be able to edit them and add to them with ease. So I turned to the digital world to heal my woes. The main problem I had when… More ->
