☘️ The BEST HowToGYST Videos Of 2020 • Your One Stop Shop For Inspiration

I'm sure 2020 didn't quite pan out as you expected. You probably had to cancel or change a lot of plans, and put some projects on the back burner.

It's my hope that these videos will help kickstart your new year so you can get back in the swing of things and smash those goals once and for all.

OK, let's kick things off. Of all the videos I uploaded to my channel in 2020, these were the top 10.

(Side note: I tested a lot of different types of thumbnails in 2020. Which is your favourite?)

The Top 10 HowToGYST videos of 2020

I'm arranging these by views, so here are the videos that were "voted" by you as being worth your time and attention.

10. Take Back Control Of Your Home | START FRESH SERIES Ep. 2

In the #10 spot is the second video I uploaded in 2020. It was part of my 'Start Fresh' series where I shared how to get that clean slate feeling in several areas of your life.

In this particular one I showed how to whip your home into shape so it feels like a brand new space... but with minimal effort!

This is the video for you if you're ready to hit the RESET button and make sure your home is serving you, and NOT stressing you.

(As an aside... I miss my shorter hair!)

9. Sunday Routine For Getting Things Done – Improve Your Week With A Weekly Reset

My weekly resets are vital to me feeling like I have my sh*t together. On the weeks that I don't do them (like over Christmas) I really feel it. If I dropped them entirely, my life would be complete chaos.

Still, I had no idea this 3-step Sunday routine would be such a big hit!

This weekly reset is easy to do, easy to remember, and will help you take control of your to-do list and get on top of your tasks. So if you want to get things done, be productive, and plan the week ahead, this is the video for you.

8. Home Decor Declutter – Decluttering Knick Knacks

This was another big surprise in the popularity stakes. It was part of my 'Clutter-Free In 5' series that ran throughout August, showing you how to declutter different spaces in your home in just 5 minutes.

In fact, the series was so popular that you'll see two more videos from it make an appearance on this list. 😉

This particular one was based on the idea of "invisible" clutter. No idea what I'm talking about? You've probably found that there's at least one room in your home where, even after you've decluttered it, it still feels like there's too much stuff, am I right?

Well that's down to "invisible" clutter, i.e. decorative items.

By doing a home decor declutter and removing all those items from the room, you can drastically change how the space looks and feels.

This video was full of tips not just on how to quickly empty the space, but also how to decorate it to give you that calm, peaceful, spacious feeling.

7. Stop Doing These Things If You Want To Be Happy • Happiness Hacks

If true happiness always seems out of reach, there are certain things you need to stop tolerating. They may very well be why you're unhappy, so cut them out of your life as much as you can.

Instead, use the happiness hacks in this video to improve your life, increase your joy, and savour every moment.

6. How To RESET YOUR LIFE In 2020 | START FRESH SERIES Ep. 1

Sometimes in life you just need to hit the reset button and start again.

This was my first video of 2020, and first in my 'Start Fresh' series. I shared some basic principles to get the ball rolling and help give you that fresh start feeling.

(I updated the title and thumbnail for 2021.)

5. FAST Decluttering Results – Top Decluttering Tips To Change Your Life

Yet another (and not the last) from my 'Clutter-Free In 5' challenge.

This was the first video in the 30-day series and really got everyone excited about taking part.

I created it because I know how overwhelming decluttering can be. I mean, you want to see massive progress but you can't devote days and days to it. So I wanted to give you a jumpstart decluttering guide to get FAST results with SMALL, manageable steps.

It tells you exactly where to start and what to do, focusing on the things that will have the biggest impact and  taking the guesswork out of the whole process.

It's the next best thing to having a professional organiser come to your home. Click the video to follow along for my top decluttering tips and advice, and learn how to declutter your home in just 5 minutes a day.

4. Don’t Start Decluttering Before You Do This!

This was the second video in the 'Clutter-Free in 5' decluttering challenge and apparently I was so excited about it that I went full-on crazy eyes for the thumbnail. Ha ha.

If you've tried decluttering in the past only to find yourself back at square one, you're missing a simple step – decluttering prep. As the saying goes, fail to prepare, prepare to fail.

It's so easy to dive in, full of enthusiasm, but then backslide because you don’t have a plan in place for how to tackle clutter. In this video I'm talking about the things you need to do BEFORE you begin decluttering so that your efforts afterwards won't be in vain.

So if you've decluttered in the past but never stuck with it and are now ready to see lasting results, these are the foundational clutter-free tips you need.

And now for the top 3:

3. Life Is So Different Now! The KonMari Method 5 Years On | The Lessons MAJOR Decluttering Taught Me

KonMari videos generally tend to perform very well for me but I had no idea this one would take off like it did. What a whirlwind!

At the time, it had been five years since I started the KonMari Method (it's now coming up on 6!) and my life has changed a lot since then. So I wanted to share the top lessons I learned on my decluttering journey... and not all of them were pleasant surprises!

(And oh look, another new thumbnail style. Clearly it was a very indecisive year for me. Ha ha.)

2. 10 Habits That Changed My Life (While Suffering From Depression) • Life Changing Habits

I know I probably sound like a broken record at this stage but I had absolutely no idea this one would take off like it did. I changed the title of the video the night before it went live and I'm guessing it made all the difference. I can't remember the original one now but I know I was much happier with this version.

Anyway, because nobody likes working hard and seeing very few results, I wanted to share some of the best ways to improve your life. I made sure they were insanely simple to implement (I did it while suffering from depression).

After all, when you've got your nose to the grindstone, you want some 'set it and forget it' life upgrades to make things run more smoothly.

And then *drumroll please* we have the 2020 video that got the most views:

1. What NO-ONE Tells You About The KonMari Method – How To Find The Click Point

At the time I recorded this (and to date) there was only one other video on YouTube that talked about the KonMari click point. I thought that was odd given that it's such a big part of the book/Method, and it was something that had eluded me on my own decluttering journey up to that point.

So I set out to see if I could find it.

If you're not familiar with it, the click point is when you successfully declutter as much as you can. It's when everything just 'clicks'. But finding it can be tricky.

So if you're not seeing the results you want from the KonMari Method, you'll definitely want to watch this one. Declutter with me while I tackle the bookcase in my home office, and discover what even decluttering expert Marie Kondo doesn't tell you.

If you're like me, your 2021 got off to a slow start and you're ready to get the ball rolling on a great year. That's why I compiled all my best videos of 2020 in one place, so you can get a strong dose of inspiration... STAT.

Wishing you a wonderful new year.

I mean, it's gotta be better than the last one, right?

RIGHT?!

What's something you'd like to achieve in 2021?

Oh and stay tuned for a 'top 10 blog posts' post. 😉
