How To Increase Your Chances Of Sticking To New Habits

As I mentioned in my January wrap-up, I had some habits I wanted to make and some habits I wanted to break. The good news is that I managed to stay off chocolate and sweets, and to do some form of exercise every day, for the entire month of January. Today, I’m sharing how I increased my chances of sticking to my new habits in the hopes that it will help you with your habits too. I’ve read several times that the human brain doesn’t like unfinished things. It likes tasks to be completed, which is why you randomly… Onwards! ->

January 2015 Wrap-Up

This was actually quite a productive (albeit lightning fast) month for me, perhaps because it’s January so I’m still full of the motivation and inspiration that the new year brings. One of the problems I’ve found I have is that I try to make small amounts of progress with lots of different things, instead of really focusing on one thing and making great strides there. When it comes to changing your life, it’s not an ‘all or nothing’ game. You don’t give up your job after a day off, and you don’t stop eating food just ‘cause you once ate a dodgy kebab. It’s the same with your new habits. You shouldn’t give up your healthy eating regime just because you succumbed to a slice of cake, and you shouldn’t start smoking again after one cheeky puff in a moment of weakness. I watch my daughter grow and learn every single day, and I know that if she gave up on something when she couldn’t… Onwards! ->

When Is It OK To Watch TV Instead Of Going To The Gym?

There are a billion different things you can do to help you on your GYST journey, but there are also a billion excuses that will stop you getting there. We’ve all used them at some point or another, and we all continue to use them. They’re usually some iteration of not having the energy or not having the time. I’ve made my fair share of excuses for putting things off, the latter in particular being my ever-faithful companion. I don’t have time to go to the gym. I don’t have time to prepare a healthy meal from scratch. I… Onwards! ->
