2019 Hopes & Dreams

This wasn't something I intended to publish but it's serving as a great source of inspiration and merriment to me. Maybe it will do the same for you.

2019 Hopes & Dreams

A few weeks ago I was feeling restless, spinning the hamster wheel of life and getting nowhere. Realising I was only exhausting myself, I sat down and wrote out my plans for 2019. The aim? "To get my head back in the game".

For several weeks – nay, months – now I've been out of my groove. Burnout hit me bad in September and I've struggled to get back on track since. Generally being an ambitious perfectionist, it's been hard. But the new year always brings renewed hope and an extra reserve of motivation, so I tried to put all my hopes, fears, frustrations, and plans down on paper.

What follows, in no particular order, is my (very long) mission for the coming year.

  • Collabs with lots of other YouTubers. LOTS. Like, maybe one a month. Make a list!
  • Design a new e-course?
  • Be all caught up on my journal. Won't that be a glorious day.
2019 Hopes & Dreams
  • Be all caught up on vlogs. Haven't vlogged in a long time. Do I wanna start back up? Maybe move the monthly diaries there.
  • Have email and social media strategies in place so there's good content going up on a regular basis. Push up traffic!
  • Quit procrastinating and do the f*cking work.
  • Have a spotless, organised home, with a place for everything and a cleaning schedule that works (and includes dusting).
  • Have regular time off. Like, proper time off. Hours by myself, resting and recharging.
2019 Hopes & Dreams
  • Write the f*cking book already!
  • Don't let the phone and laptop run your life.
  • Read a million books. Or at least a hundred. And review them all. Take notes on them all. Learn from them all.
  • Be a better mother. Be a better wife.
  • Learn to cook a few things. For god's sake, give yourself options outside potatoes, packaged foods, and sandwiches.
  • Sleep like the dead.
  • Wake like you're truly grateful to be alive.
  • Take better care of your body. If you lose it, you're f*cked.
  • Become obsessive about something. Learn all there is to know about it. Don't half-ass your interests.
  • Play.
2019 Hopes & Dreams
  • Re-watch your favourite movies. And find some new favourites.
  • Reflect and review. Stop missing out on things. Keep your mind sweeps updated.
  • Clear up your digital shit. It's a mess.
  • Update Scout's photo folders.
  • Tag all your own photos and video files so you can find stuff.
  • Catch up on laundry and stay caught up.
  • Stop spending so much on "stuff". Make your wants and needs few.
  • You can write better video scripts and blog posts than that. Come on.
  • Embrace the new year. Re-find your love for the end of December.
2019 Hopes & Dreams
  • Stop asking why things aren't happening and start questioning what you're doing to make them happen.
  • Get better at buying gifts.
  • Cherish what I love. Fix what I hate.
  • Stop talking about yourself in the first AND third person.
  • Keep a list of the things that light up your soul. Do these things regularly.
  • Breathe. Everything will be clean again.
  • Learn. Learn like a motherf*cker.
  • Get a better signature. Stop scribbling and settling.
  • Deepen friendships... and relationships in general. Make new ones. (Friendships, that is. Happy with my husband.)
2019 Hopes & Dreams
  • Get your eyes tested. They're the only pair you've got.
  • Let go of the past. Don't worry about the future. I mean, fight to make it a good one, but don't worry about it.
  • Recognise that it's not easy, and that's OK.
  • Get crystal clear on your goals, and then work on them one at a time.
  • Pause.
  • It won't take as long or be as difficult as you think it will. Just start.
  • If you're not feeling it, don't do it. Or at least not now.
  • Keep on top of the household bills. Inform yo'self.
  • Break things up and alternate tasks. You're not a machine.
  • Take a moment to appreciate the little things. Like that cardinal sitting on a bare branch in the snow.
  • Realise how lucky you really are.
2019 Hopes & Dreams
  • Don't force it. Relax. It will come.
  • Figure out who you want to be and what you want to do. Long term.
  • Recognise that there may not be a long term, so don't put everything off.
  • Listen carefully to yourself. What do you need?
  • Eat the fruit before it goes bad.
2019 Hopes & Dreams
  • Pee as soon as you need to. Otherwise something might crop up unexpectedly and you'll be caught short.
  • You've got more time than you think you do. But also a lot less.
  • Sit up straight. Or as straight as you can with your scoliosis.
  • Stop feeling sorry for yourself. You're blessed beyond belief.
  • Laugh. A good deep, from-the-belly, gonna-puke-your-guts-up, snorting kind of laugh. And do it often.
  • Be good. And get back to work!
  • Oh, and paint your nails every once in a while. They look good like that (even if they do chip 3 seconds later).

    Best luck

  2. This is SUCH a fantastic list! I can relate to so many things on it

  3. That is a mighty fine list!

If you figure out the gift giving part, let me know. I feel like I’m the worst!

And never, ever pass up an opportunity to pee. 😀

    • Ha ha. Thanks, Stephanie! As for gift giving, starting early is always a good idea. I find I procrastinate because I can’t think of anything off the top of my head, and then end up grabbing stuff last minute. This year for Christmas I actually sat down and did a small bit of research well in advance (mostly by looking at gift suggestions on Etsy) and feel I was MUCH better prepared.
